Why Twitter is good (and bad)…
November 13, 2009 | In: General Business, The Latest Tweet, Twitter for Companies
Twitter is one of those things people just witter on about without ever finding the time to explain it to those bemused creatures who’ve never tried it and see no reason why they ever should. If you’re one of the puzzled ones (and Tesco is even doing it now), and would like to know more: here’s the best non techie explanation I’ve read yet:
“It’s just there – [Why Twitter] knows. There are clever people behind it”. So there we go. We at “Why Twitter” know.
We can’t sit still; hence we put the Twitter Magic to a test. Even to the government.
Why Twitter has an analysis of MPs who ‘tweet’, and has come to the conclusion that Conservative MPs are not getting the conversational aspect of the phenomenon; which many seem to consider the essence of best Twitter practice. Check out Tweetminster to see which MPs are blogging and what about. Of cause, @why_tweat we witter and twitter, too. But it’s more about awareness, education and trying to explain “the next domain generation has started” – If you don’t have your name on Twitter – then what?!
Famous words, however - the key problem with Twitter is that it’s useful, and maybe sometimes too useful. It often acts like vortex drawing the unwary user in before they understand what’s happened.
It’s smart, and can make you smarter. But it’s also capable of swallowing whole segments of your day (and in these global times) night. My advice: handle with care. Especially if you think you are a “big” company or a *brand*.
But we come to that next time. We have just started. Follow us @why_tweat
